  1. Specialty Orientation and Training Specifications

        1.1 Specialty Orientation

        To cultivate students with good work ethics, behaviours, innovation, team spirits and entrepreneurship. Students are supposed to be engage in the works related with pharmaceutical production, inspection, sales, dispensing, service and management in enterprises, hospitals, inspection bureaus and so on.

        Employment aims at pharmaceutical companies,  drug production factories, chain stores, hospitals, drug inspection bureaus, drug administration and so on. Potential jobs for students majoring pharmacy include pharmacist at drug stores or hospitals, drug store manager, salesperson, district manager, QC, QA, and so on.

        1.2 Training Specifications

        1.2.1 Professional abilities

        Be acquainted with related regulations, especially GMP, GSP and so on.

        Know the basic production process of BPC and common pharmaceutical preparations.

        Have the basic knowledge about common drug preparations and synthesis and the operational production ability.

        Be familiar with the fundamentals of pharmaceutical equipments, their functions and ways of operation; Be able to use these equipments.

        Possess the improvement technology of basic dosage forms.

        Have the capacity to inspect the quality of common dosage forms.

        Have the ability to give qualitative and quatitative anylysis to samples and the capacity to use and maintain the inspetion equipments.

        Be able to discover problems as well as solve them in the process of drug production and inspetion.

        Have the investment promotion and management ability.

        Have the quality supervision and management ability of drug distribution and circulation.

        Have the ability to promote and organize pharmaceutical marketing.

        Have the managerial skills of drug sales.

        Have the ability of clinical sales and management.

        Have the ability of drug dispensing and utilization.

        Have the ability to discover problems and solve them in the process of drug sales and dispensing.

        Have the required computer skills.

        1.2.2 Methods abilities

        Have the acute sense and jugiment and know the latest trend in this field.

        Be able to acquire new knowledge, technology and methold in the field by himself.

        Master the method of making full use of resources, planing, decision-making, inspecting and assessing. Be able to use the professional knowledge flexibly.

         2. Personnel Traning Mode

        The cooperation between the college and enterprises and the combination of learning with doing help to realize the multiple transitions, including drug sales and dispensing position, drug production and inspetion position, student and employee, teacher and engineer and so on. The 1.5 + o.5 + 1 mode have been perfected: 1.5 means studying professional courses for a year; 0.5 means a year and half in pro-job training and preparing for the professional qualification certificate; 1 means a year internship in enterprises. Practical and hands-on training takes up more than 60% of the total teaching hours. “Mutiple Certificates” system is pushed, with the 100% of the students having obtained double certificates, and 40% of the students having gotten mutiple certificates. “Five Integrations” are realized, which are the ingeration of class and training room, of theory and learning practice, of professional skills and quality cultivation, of hands-on practice and professional skills verification. An open teaching and management system has been formed. A mutiple college-enterprise appraisal system combining formative assessment with summative assessment, an internship supervision and feedback mechanism, a talent quality feedback system and a follow-up survey after being employed have all been established to follow students career development.

        22 customized classes have been formed according to the enterprises’ order. 4 CEOs and 62 senior managers have given lectures to students. In 2009, a national patent was secured by a then enrolled student. In 2010, 2 students rose quickly to the position of store manager within 3 month. “The Herb Relaxation Resort” designed by pharmacy students won the first prize in the Competition of First Huang Yan-pei Business Planing of Professional Educational Prize. In 2011, students won the second and third prize in the National Vocational Medical Skills Competition. In 2012, second and third prize and group prize were secured, which should be ascribed to the college-enterprise personnel training mode that combines learning with doing.












         3. Curriculum System Construction and Course Construction

        The curriculum system construction is based on three principles: firstly, it should benefit the cultivation of students’comprehensive professional skills and quality to give students an advantage in employment; secondly, it should to the benefit of studnets life-long sustainable deveopment to endow studetns with the potentials; thirdly, it should be beneficial to sutdents’further education (an overlapping of major courses if students want to study for a undergraduate degree.

        Based on the analysis, the college has constructed the curriculum system with the enterprises, with major courses including pharmaceutical chemistry, Pharmaceutical Preparation Technology, Pharmaceutical equipment and technology, Pharmaceutical GMP Implementation and Certification, Drug inspection Technology, InstrumentalAnalysisTechniques, Traditional Chinese Medicine Identification Technology, TCM Processing Technology, Drug application Skills, Drug marketing technology, Pharmacy Administration and Statute,




        Pharmaceutical Enterprise Culture and Management, Pharmaceutical Comprehensive Knowledge and Skills. In the fourth term, pre-job training with teaching will be conducted for the preparation of the professional certificate. Project teaching is implemented and “six-phase” teaching organization is designed.

         4. Teaching Team Construction

        The teaching team of the Pharmacy Department is a Provincial-level one, with the leader, professor Tu Bing, being the “Famous Teacher in Hunan Province” and the vice-chairman of the Changde Medical and Pharmaceutical Association.  A teaching team made up with “Double-qualified teachers” both excels in quatity and quality, including 38 experts, 40 full-time teacher, 4 on-the-job professors/chief pharmacist, 8 associate professiors/associate chief pharmacits, 6 national vocational verification assessors, 2 inspectors verified by GMP, 1 law-forcing supervisor from food administration, 1 visiting scholar from Central South University, 2 exemplar teachers at provincial level, and 2 doctors, among which 73% are holders master’s degree or above. All of the 28 teachers under the age of 45 are holders of master’s degree., graduating from Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Pharmaceutical University, Shengyang Pharmaceutical University, Central South University and other prestigious Universities. This has perfected the teachers’ development and incentive mechanism. Most of the teachers on staff have the experiences of working at a large phamaceutical companies, such as Yangzijiang Pharmaceuticals, Xiuzheng Pharmaceuticals, Laobaixing Drug Store, Jingxiutang Pharmaceuticals, Zhangshan Bioenginerring Ltd, Haipurui Pharmaceuticals, Dehai Pharmaceuticals and so on.

         5. Construcion of Practice Conditions

        Systematic design and implementation are conducted for the practice conditions. A Pharmaceutical culture has been established to make on-campus practice, manament and culture meet the demands of pharmaceutical enterprises. The advanced and complete practice condition in Changde Vocational and Teachnical College ranks before other counterparts in the Province. There are 5 exemplary traning bases off campus. The practice base in campus covers an area of 7000 square meters with the total equipment value of 8 million yuan. There are 57 training rooms with complete facilities concerning drug production, inspection, dispensing and marketing and 1600 trainging positions. All the projects have corresponding real or simulation training rooms, with the projects’ use rate reaching 100%. Practice takes up more than 60% of the total teaching hours. Besides class, training bases will be open for 14 hours per week so the students can carry out their practise under teachers’ guidance.

        The drug production training workshops adopt the same equipments as those used in pharmaceutical factories, such as the ZP35B Rotary Tablet Machine, WJP-200A Automatic Capsule Stuffing Machine and so on. The five production line can produce 30 dosage forms such as pills, granules, capsules and so on, with all the local form included.

        The precise instruments in the drug inspecton room are equal to those in the large factories. The inspection items cover most of the items stipulated by National Formulary, with HPLC, GC, UVS, infrared spectrophotometer and so on.

        Drug dispensing rooms include dispensary for western medicine, for Chinese medicine, exhibition room of herbal specimens and practice dispensary. There are more than 600 kinds of medicines in the dispensary for western medicine, more than 500 kinds of medicines in the dispensary for chinese medicine, with complete drug dispensing functions.

        The drug marketing room has advance equipments and practice platform, which can be used for the skill training and assessment for marketing planning.

        The pharmacy department has combined training with enterprises production activities, teaching circumstances with enterprise production environments and established a pharmaceutical culture that focuses on college-enterprise cooperation. In 2010, the deputy director of the education department of Hunan province visited the training room and gave positive comments. In 2011, leaders and representatives from  Educational Experience Exchange Conference also paid a visit to the department of pharmacy. The training room that integrate theory with practicer received a favourable response from then as well as other news media.             

         6. Teaching Resources

The department of Pharmacy has a complete set of  professional teaching resourse bank, exlusive server, professional course management system, on-line practice platform, pharmaceutical and medical nanagement system, on-line check and evaluation system. After connected to the college’s main server, a on-line learning platform can be visited both from within the campus and from out of the campus. The resourses include those for diploma education and professional training.
